There were some odd, huge features with mainstream artists like Marshmello, the Weeknd, etc. Songs like Righteous, Conversations, Wishing Well, Life’s A Mess, and Stay High deserve spots among his greatest songs ever as well. For lyrical content, this album was his greatest ever. Feelings of happy release, feelings of regret and hatred for himself, and inner demons are just some of the topics he discusses in these songs. His death was still fresh in the minds of everyone who adored him, and this album’s nuance was that it revealed some of his mindsets as he approached the death by overdose he knew was coming.
This one was his first post-mortem production, and along with Pop Smoke’s album at the time of release, this album dominated the charts and people’s interest. Each song had shades of ambiguity displaying his uncertainty in life and where he felt he was going in life. This album was a transitional period for him as an artist, and in this way, this was a versatile golden era for songs of all nature to mix genres and whatnot. This album was amazing, from upbeat songs like Bandit and Make Believe to sadder songs like Robbery, Hear Me Calling, and Empty.
The motifs of death, addiction, and others are redundant, but well delivered, just not good enough to compare to his others. That being sad, the album was still largely good. Aside from Feline, Doom, Already Dead, and Until the Plug Comes Back Around, which are all great tracks, none of the other songs really stood out, and none of the others would have made it into his other, much better previous albums. In that way, his studio album “Legends Never Die” was truer than we could’ve imagined, as 3 years after his death, he is still breaking records and hitting milestones. Even though he has passed on, his legacy lives on through his released music and all his thousands of unreleased songs as well.
